Sunday Stills, the next challenge: Rule of thirds
As any good photographer can tell you the subject, unless macro should be in the top or bottom third of your viewfinder or the right or left third. so this weeks challenge is to use the rule of thirds. Any subject will do, just make sure it is either in the top or bottom or left or right of the picture.
Example: if shooting the sky have the horizon at the bottom of the pic, if shooting a horse pic have it off to the right or left with a pasture filling the screen. It just takes practice since we all tend to center the subject.

I am amazed to learn that this is a rule. I never studied anything about photography, but things always seemed to look better if not centered. Thanks for the information/education. I will be sure to have one by Sunday!

Oh yes, I learned about the rule of thirds in my beginning photography class…makes good composition. I should have this one up on time!

I read about this rule several months ago. Its interesting how once you start applying it, you see how much more attrative pictures are. You’d think centering your subject would make the eye more drawn to it, but I think when you use the rule of thirds, its actually more eye catching, and your brain still is drawn to the subject, maybe even more so. Got mine posted, and looking forward to hearing what this week’s challenge will be.
