Sunday Stills Challenge-Macro

Wow, what a turnout this week and some great sunrise/sunset pics.

Now on the the next Challenge….. Closeup/Macro pics!!!!

I figured ya’ll needed a chance to stay indoors and stay warm, so this should do nicely.

Taking closeups is easier than you might think, just remember to use the Macro setting on the point and shoots(a flower is the usual icon) and a flash, If the pic is too washed out by the flash try a piece of toilet paper over the flash and depending on the thickness it should difuse the light and make a nice warm flash. Also a good rule of thimb is keep your subject at arms length, the usual minimal focal length is 12-18inches unless you have a dedicated Macro lens. And of course a tripod if you have one.

Well good luck and have a great day…Ed

The pic I’m using as an example was taken at 6 inches on a sunroof of a car in cloudy conditions with an ISO of 400 F3:5 and without a flash.

Was wondering if you’ve tried stacking lenses for macro. Have you found that it works well?
